KENOSHA EMERGING LEADERS ACADEMY Opens Doors; Announces Director
Last month, the City of Kenosha celebrated a significant milestone with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy (KELA). Located at 2222 63rd Street in the Uptown neighborhood, KELA is committed to empowering students and young adults with the skills and resources needed to pursue successful college and career paths. This collaborative effort between the City of Kenosha and local partners will provide opportunities for local youth, fostering a pipeline of talent for area colleges and future employers. Beginning this fall, the Kenosha YMCA Teen Achievers program will be housed at KELA, and we are currently operating the Best Buy Teen Tech Center powered by Jockey. KELA recently announced its inaugural Director, Atifa Robinson. Atifa comes to us with over 20 years of leadership experience in health and education, and believes her passion for driving community impact, her dedication to serve, and build healthy communities to thrive, will be a key factor in moving the Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy forward. The Kenosha YMCA is proud to be a partner in this collaborative effort. Other partners include Carthage College, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Herzing University, Gateway Technical College, Jockey International, the Best Buy Foundation™, gener8tor and the Mahone Fund.
